The MoCA Cultural Association (Modern Contemporary Art), in collaboration with Arte Laguna, is calling for the 8th edition of the Arte Laguna International Art Prize, aimed at promoting and enhancing contemporary art.
The Prize, with a total endowment of €180,000, was the recipient of a medal from the President of the Italian Republic, and is sponsored, among others, by Italy's Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Veneto region, the Municipality of Venice, Venice's Ca' Foscari university, and the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). The prize will offer significant monetary awards, a group exhibition in Venice, exhibition in international art galleries, collaborations with companies, artist's residencies, and the publication of a catalog.
The Prize's topic is open. Submissions are accepted in five categories: Painting, Sculpture and Installation, Photographic Arts, Video Art and Performance, Virtual and Digital Art. The competition is open to all artists, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or any other criteria. Artists can participate with one or more works, in any number of categories. Specific techniques in each category are:
Painting: Works in any style or technique (oil, tempera, acrylic, vinyl, watercolor, graffito, pencil, collage, etc.), on any support (canvas, paper, wood, plastic, metal, etc.). Maximum dimensions for each submission is 175 cm per side. Polyptychs can be accepted as a single entry if adhered to these dimensions in total; if they exceed these measurements, they must be entered as multiple works.
Sculpture and Installations: Works in any organic or inorganic material. Works can utilize sound, light, video, and mechanical or electric motion. Maximum size for each entry is: base, 4 meters; depth, 4 meters; height, 8 meters; no weight limit. If selected as a finalist for the group show, the author of the sculpture or installation must provide the Prize organization with all the materials required for its assemblage.
Photographic Arts: Photographs on an analog or digital support; photographs with digital interventions. Works fully generated on a computer can be presented to the Digital Art section. Photographic series can be entered as a single work if measuring 175 cm in total; if exceeding these size limits, they must be entered as multiple works.
Video Art: Videos, films, and works in any animation technique on any digital or analog support. Maximum length is 15 minutes, including titles and final credits. For the final exhibition, original works in high quality DVD and in formats that are compatible with popular media players are required.
Performance: Each artist or group of artists can participate with one or more performances, in any technique or expressive form and aided by any materials provided by the artist. Finalists will perform their work in the afternoon of the opening day with a length not exceeding 10 minutes. Works including third-party music or images must list and secure all copyright and SIAE releases.
Virtual and Digital Art: Works that are fully computer-generated or created using digital applications and devices.
The Prize's endowment is distributed in the following way:
