The government of the Mexican estate of Nuevo León announced the call for participation for the Seventh edition of the Festival Bella Vía 2010, a space for artistic expression where painters are invited to reproduce classic works of art on the pavement. Participants will be competing for monetary prizes of up to 20,000 Mexican pesos. Works entered in the "Madonnari Semplici" category of this seventh edition of the festival may emulate artworks from the Renaissance (1380-1560) or from any other time period, including contemporary or universal art, Muralism, the 20th-Century Mexican School of Painting, or any other Latin American art movement. The call is open to well-established artists, young artists, and apprentices over the age of eighteen. The participants that are selected to move on to the next phase of the competition must work with pastels and use the street pavement-a 2-by-2-meter area per project-as their canvas. The festival takes place every year and uses the streets within the Monterrey's downtown area as support for the competing works. To participate in the festival¿held on October 15, 16, and 17¿the artists selected will attend a street painting workshop on October 14.
