The 6th edition of the Marcoantonio Vilaça CNI Sesi Senai Award announced the list of artists selected. Each artist will receive a purse of R$50,000.00 (US$15,300.00, approx.) and will participate in traveling exhibitions presented in Brazilian cities between the months of December of 2017 and December of 2018. In the curator category, the winner will receive a purse of R$25,000.00 (US$7,650.00, approx.). The finalists are: Ana Avelar (Curitiba, Paraná), Douglas de Freitas (São Paulo), and Josué Mattos (Criciúma, Santa Catarina). The winner will develop an exhibition project in four of the cities in which the traveling exhibition will be presented (Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Goiânia, and Porto Alegre). In August, the artists selected will participate in a group exhibition at the Museu Brasileiro de Escultura (MuBE) in São Paulo. The winners of the Award (one curator and five artists) will be announced during the inaugural event. The jury panel is formed by art critics Cauê Alves (São Paulo), Jailton Moreira (Porto Alegre), Marcelo Campos (Rio de Janeiro), and Moacir dos Anjos (Recife); along with the following winners from earlier editions: curator of the 5th Marcantonio Vilaça Award, Divino Sobral (Goiânia), and the winner of the 2nd Marcantonio Vilaça Award, Lucia Laguna (Rio de Janeiro).
