For the fifith edition of its CeDoc Artes Visuales Contest, the Visual Arts Documentation Center of the Centro Cultural de la Moneda invites Chilean and foreign researchers to explore and deepen knowledge of the different art fields and cultural disciplines, as well as thematic, critical, and/or interdisciplinary essays that converge on the topic of "Visualities of the Transition Period. Art debates and processes in the 1980s and 1990s in Chile". The call invites researchers to work in the audiovisual and bibliographic archive of contemporary art in Chile as it relates to "Visualities of the Transition Period. Art debates and processes in the 1980s and 1990s in Chile" with the purpose of examining the conjuncture of political change and the temporalities of the last years of the Dictatorship and the beginnings of the post-Dictatorship era, from the standpoint of artistic production, its processes and discourses. Essays can focus not only on the realm of the visual arts (sculpture, photography, printmaking, installation, performance, painting, and video), but also in the possible crossings between these disciplines with the fields of music, film, literature, dance, and new media, as well as the links established with Cultural Studies (gender, cultural management, audience, education, postcolonial studies, among others), criticism, history and theory of at, history, and philosophy. Only essays that use among their reference materials texts and documents from CeDoc Artes Visuales' bibliographic resources and audiovisual archive will be considered valid, which does not preclude the use of other documentary and bibliographic resources as well. Four essays will be awarded with a 1,000-copy edition, in collaboration with LOM Publishing.
