50TH Anniversary

Hundreds of art lovers gathered last night to celebrate the opening of smart, Miami Dade College´s (MDC) landmark art exhibition and sale. Which runs thorough December 15, at its National Historic andmark Freedom Tower in honor of the college´s 50th anniversary. smArt is a mayor exhibition and art sale that presents a unique opportunity to survey and purchase works from a select roster of top contemporary and emerging Latin American artists. It is the first time in many years that such an exhibition is held locally. All of the 131 pieces are available for sale, with proceeds going to the MDC American Dream Scholarship Fund, which helps the college carry out its mission of changing lives through the opportunity of a quality education. Showcasing work will be 86 artists and 32 renowned galleries representing 8 countries. Among the artists whose work will be featured are Guillermo Kuitca, León Ferrari, Tania Candiani, Luis Gispert, José Antonio Hernández Díaz and Danilo Dueñas.
