In October, the assembly of the works that make up the fourth edition of the Art in Golf Triennial, organized by arte_FITS Foundation at the grounds of the Dorado Beach Resort in Puerto Rico, was completed. Since its inception, the triennial has been an open call to Puerto Rican and international artists to develop ephemeral and site-specific art projects that transform the conventional landscaping of the resort's golf course. Among the objectives of the event are to promote the understanding and enjoyment of contemporary art, raise awareness about nature, landscape, and biodiversity, and promote the work of today's creators, emphasizing emerging art from Puerto Rico.
Both the triennial and the annual Art in Nature project have contributed to creating the foundation's Ephemeral Outdoor Museum, a monumental sculpture trail and ephemeral installations located within the Gran Parque Tropical, on the 200-acre grounds of the Dorado Beach Resort, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. So far, more than thirty-five artists from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Ecuador, the United States, Sweden, Japan, and South Korea have exhibited their work in these spaces. This year, the Triennial brings together Venezuelans Patricia Van Dalen and Luis La Rosa, Puerto Ricans Víctor Monserrate, Bikismo, and Bobby Cruz, and German artist Jens J. Meyer.
Using small flags, Van Dalen elaborated an extensive chromatic field that recreates the diamond patterns brought into vogue by the Pringle of Scotland house, which celebrates its centenary this year. La Rosa installed a succession of circular perforated planes that refer to his study of black holes in space. Monserrate created a reflective sculptural ensemble in his characteristic language of lines and directions. Bobby Cruz installed illuminated signs made with neon, and Bikismo created graffiti representing a golf player.
