40 × 40 Windows from Latin America

The Latin Art Gallery (LAG) in Prague invites Latin American visual artists to participate in a Latin American contemporary art exhibition to be presented during September-November of 2013. 40 × 40 Windows from Latin America gathers 40 Latin American artists—with several exhibitions already in their careers—to present five two-dimensional or three-dimensional works each. Candidates may choose any theme or technique to create their works.

The call is open to any Latin American visual artist living in any part of the globe. There is no application fee and candidates may submit their proposals by email to info@latin-art.com. Proposals must also include a brief C.V.—in English and Spanish—the artist's biography, 5 photos of their visual works, one black and white photo of the artist, along with the technical information of the works. It is recommended to send a PDF portfolio.

The exhibition will be held at the gallery of the Department of Applied Arts in the city of Prague, during the month of October of 2013.

Candidates may submit up to five works each. Each work must measure 40 × 40 cm. The proposals will be mounted on a column that measures 40 × 200 cm. Offering its space for the collection and exhibition of the works, the Latin Art Gallery will also be in charge of the exhibition's curatorship and montage.

The deadline to receive all applications is December 31, 2012. In February of 2013, the organizers will announce the artists that have been selected to participate. All works must be submitted by March of 2013.

Artists are responsible for the transportation of their works. The pieces selected will participate in the exhibition and then they will be kept in the spaces of the Latin American Gallery for one year. An accompanying catalog will also be printed.
