37 Salón Nacional de las Artes del Fuego (37th National Fire Arts Salon)

With the purpose of stimulating, confronting, promoting, and documenting new contemporary art proposals from all of the Fire Arts manifestations across the country, while also contributing to the educational development and spiritual growth of Venezuelans, the Universidad de Carabobo organizes the annual National Fire Arts Salon. The exhibition will be held on September 19, 2010, at the Galería Universitaria Braulio Salazar, the event¿s permanent address. The call is open to all Venezuelan and international artists who have been living in Venezuela for five or more years. Participants may submit individual or collective works developed in one of the following disciplines: ceramics; enamel on metal; gold work, silver work, and glass work. The call will award seven works from several categories whose prizes will be granted by various institutions with a purse ranging from $1,500 ¿1,800 USD paid in local currency. Jury for single admissions and awards will be Isabel Cisneros, winner of the 25th National Arts Salon; Tahía Rivero (researcher and curator at the Colección Banco Mercantil); Gloria Urdaneta (university professor, and researcher and curator of the Colección Universidad Simón Bolívar); and Ilich Rodríguez, university professor and museographer, serving as a non-voting curatorial advisor. The works will be received from May 24 to July 4, 2010, at the Galería Universitaria Braulio.
