The Colombian Escuela Nacional Sindical announces its call for the 23rd edition of the 23rd Latin American Documentary Photography Contest "Works and Days." The call is open to individuals of any nationality over the age of 14. The call is not open to institutions, juridical persons or members of the institution making the call. The photographs submitted must center on human beings (with no regard to age, gender, or race) performing any type of jobs or profession. The proposals may also consist of images that, while not showing people, indirectly suggest their presence through objects or materials—it will be up to the jury to decide on the appropriateness of such approaches. The contest aims at focusing the photographic gaze on the human factor as a central protagonist of the productive processes of and by Latin American people. So it accepts photographic projects that document the working and social conditions experienced by Latin American migrants in developed countries, as well as the situation of those who migrate from one country to another within Latin America. The contest is divided in five categories: "Working Women," "Child Labor," "Working Men," "Migrant Workers," and "Labor and Trade Union Disputes." Each participant may send no more than five works, whether these are stand alone proposals or part of a series. If several photographs are part of a single work, they must be included together in the application. Only digital images will be accepted; meaning, images that have been taken with a digital camera or scanned from a negative or a printed photograph. Once in the call's homepage, candidates must complete several forms with their personal information. If any personal information is missing the application will not be accepted. The international jury is formed by three prominent personalities working in the photographic and documentary fields. They will grant a single prize of US$1,100.00 for each of the five modalities. There is no application fee and all applications must be submitted before August 17, 2017. For more information and to get the applications, visit:
