On Tuesday, September 21, a commemorative ceremony was held at the MALBA Auditorium to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the museum, which included the presence of the authorities of the institution and the national and city governments, along with a group of artists, writers, gallery owners and invited collaborators.
The event began with the projection of an institutional video, accompanied by a live band directed by Fernando Kabusacki, director of the National Film Chamber Orchestra, providing music for Malba Cine's silent film screenings since 2002. Afterward, writer Silvia Hopenhayn, a regular contributor to Malba Literatura's programs and master of ceremonies for the event, gave a welcoming speech.
The keynote speeches were given by Eduardo Costantini, founder, and honorary president of Malba; Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Head of Government of Buenos Aires; Pablo Da Silveira, Minister of Education and Culture of Uruguay; Teresa Bulgheroni, president of the Malba Foundation; and Tristan Bauer, Minister of Culture of Argentina.
At the end of the ceremony, the work selected by Malba's Acquisitions Committee to celebrate the anniversary was announced as part of the museum's collection. It is Cabalgata (1966) by Juan Carlos Distéfano. The artist greeted those present, and a video showing a brief review of his career.
In the end, the guests were invited to go to the museum hall to toast and visit the exhibition, Rafael Barradas. Hombre Flecha, which opened at the same time.
