Twentieth Anniversary of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Monterrey

The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MARCO) celebrates twenty years of promoting Latin American and international art and culture. Located in downtown Monterrey, the museum opened its doors to the public on June 28, 1991. With an area of 16,000 square meters (172,222.56 square feet), the building was designed by architect Ricardo Legorreta. Throughout these two decades, the Museum has organized exhibitions-like Frida and Great Mexican Masters¿that have attracted a great number of visitors. MARCO also offers the permanent exhibition of its Contemporary Latin American Painting Collection and includes in its program regular and varied cultural activities that feature workshops and seminars designed for people of all ages. Currently, and as the main event to commemorate this anniversary, the museum presents two grand exhibitions: The first one by Mexican artist Dr. Lakra (Jerónimo López), includes more than 60 artworks and it will remain open until September 4, 2011. The second exhibition presents 11 pieces by hyperrealist Australian artist Ron Mueck and will remain open until July 2011.
