1st National Symposium on Cultural Management

This symposium will be held between October 3 and 5, 2013, and is intended to generate a space for reflection, analysis, debate, and agreements towards the consolidation of cultural management as a profession in Mexico. The initiative arose in order to congregate cultural management professionals, institutions, universities, organizations, associations, networks, collectives, enterprises, and other groups or people interested in the professionalization of cultural management, and will take the form of an exchange of experiences and learnings around its history, advances, issues, and collaborative working proposals that will make it possible to define an action path for the various agents in the field.

Given the participatory nature of the Symposium, interested individuals can participate in several ways: with presentations of research or the systematization of experiences regarding conceptual, methodological, legal, and technical elements involved in cultural management; presenting the experience of specific organizations or cultural projects; as exhibitors promoting their institution, organization, company, or project, in order to network with other participants and to commercialize their products or services; as a co-organizing sponsor, supporting the promotion and diffusion of the event or assisting in its scheduled activities.

The symposium will focus on six transversal topics of current interest: Education and Research in Cultural Management; Cultural Policies and Local Development; Cultural Businesses and Enterprises; Cultural Management and Communication; Artistic Practices and Social Change; Networks, Professional Practices, and Associations in the Cultural Field.
