CallNovember 10, 2014

19 SESC_Videobrasil Contemporary Art Festival

The call s intended to reinforce and expand collaboration between artists, peoples and cultures; promote debate about shared experiences; and foster a horizontal conversation in order to shed light on the circulation of ideas and practices in the contemporary world, so as to help build an active network for artistic exchange. Interested candidates can register through November 16, 2014, via the web page http://site.videobrasil.org.br/en/. The Festival will distribute a R$75.000.00 award and nine residences, and four projects will be selected for production. Each project will receive financial support in the amount of R$30.000,00. The call focuses on two areas: one for completed artworks and another for projects, to be developed under the curator's supervision and with the support of the Festival. Both the completed artworks and the projects are to be exhibited in the next edition of the Festival. Works and projects will be accepted in all supports, styles, and techniques, and can be submitted by artists born in the regions that are the focus of the Festival, or residing there for five years or more. Each artist can submit up to three completed works and one project, according to the guidelines established in the open invitation available in the web page. Along with the artworks and projects ultimately selected through this call, the 19th Festival will also feature works by invited artists, a selection focused on the triangulation between Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. The SESC_Videobrasil Contemporary Art Festival has risen in recent years as a diverse platform designed to present, promote, and reflect on the artistic production of Latin America, the Caribbean. Africa, the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Europe, Southeast Asia, and Oceania.
