The recent public call for entries for the Panoramas of the South show at the 18th edition of the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_VideoBrasil closed with a record: more than 2,000 registrants from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, South and Southeast Asia, and Oceania.
Shortlisted participants represent 34 different nationalities. Their projects will be executed in formats including installation, video installation, drawing, sculpture, painting, artist books, and videos, among others.
The curatorial commission composed of Solange Farkas, Julia Reboucas, Fernando Oliva, and Eduardo de Jesús, underscores the high quality of the works selected for this edition and the renewal of a number of conceptual and formal issues in the geopolitical South, from political explorations connected to conflicts to unexpected ways of seeing and perceiving the city.
