Colombia's Universidad Nacional will offer in 2016 a diverse academic and cultural program, as it celebrates 130 years of its School of Fine Arts and 80 of its School of Architecture. The School of Fine Arts was established in 1884, connected to Universidad Nacional de Colombia, as one of the nation's most significant projects. Its first session met on April 10th, 1886, and since then it has made essential contributions to the enhancement of all artistic disciplines, as the modern and contemporary eras were built in the arts of Colombia and Latin America. Today, the School of Fine Arts leads an innovative collective project that starts with the formation and experimentation of new media, renewing contents in the arts and applying technology to contemporary creativity. A number of institutions, such as the Museo Nacional, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, the Museo de Bogotá, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Cinemateca Distrital, the Museo de Arquitectura Leopoldo Rother, the Instituto Distrital de Patrimonio, Fondo de Cultura Económica, the Escuela Superior de Artes de Bogotá (ASAB), the Museo Colsubsidio, among other cultural and academic spaces, have joined the celebration, which will be open to all Bogotá residents and visitors between April and December, 2016. The program features five seminars, eight art exhibitions and documentary shows, two historical-legacy tours, two architecture workshops, four publications, five student salons, four concerts, and more.
