The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (MUSAC) kicked off the celebrations for its 10th anniversary with 10 años después: post Emergencias en la Colección MUSAC, which can be visited through April 1st. This group exhibition, curated by Koré Escobar, reflects on the development and growth of the institution's collections, while updating the issues engaged in Emergencias, the MUSAC's opening show in 2005. In 2005, Emergencias inaugurated MUSAC with the intention of bringing forth the socio-political concerns of artists and how these were expressed using contemporary strategies, languages, and tools. It was constructed around different areas of interest defined by the Instituto de Estudios sobre Conflictos y Acción Humanitaria (IECAH) as the world's great urgencies for 2005. Thus, 10 años después: post Emergencias en la Colección MUSAC starts from a new IECAH report, written in 2014, and reflects on the changes occurred during the intervening decade and the urgencies of the present, a they are dealt with in 22 works by 21 artists (from Spain and abroad) included in the MUSAC collection. The exhibition also presents items from the MUSAC collection that have never before been seen in the museum itself, grouped in three thematic areas: social crises, environment, and violence. 10 años después: post Emergencias en la Colección MUSAC features works by Javier Ayarza, Jordi Bernadó, Carolina Caycedo, Pepe Espaliú, Harun Farocki, Joan Fontcuberta, Máximo González, Ivan Grubanov, Jenny Holzer, Zhang Huan, Miki Kratsman, Leonilson, Rogelio López Cuenca, Teresa Margolles, Aernout Mik, Antoni Muntadas, Oscar Muñoz, Juan Pérez Agirregoikoa, Caio Reisewitz, Ángel de la Rubia, and Jennifer Steinkamp.
