ARCOmadrid and AD (Architectural Digest España) announce their call for the VIP Room Design competition for the 2012 edition of the fair, open to artists, architects, and interior designers. Participants must submit their proposals no later than September 30, 2011. Applications must include a description of the project-no more than 10 pages long-plans, 3D images, photographs, as well as a budget no longer that 3 DIN A3 pages. Applicants must also include a digital copy of all the material. The paperwork must be addressed to: "CONCURSO DE IDEAS AD (Architectural Digest España) / ARCOmadrid." The participating proposals must conform to the following specifications: the space must be conceptually ephemeral and convey an environment that is somehow connected to the philosophy of the fair. It must be an inviting space designed for meetings and leisure that must include four areas created for the ARCOmadrid sponsors, a bar with capacity for around 100 persons, a lounge area for 120 persons, a restaurant for 150 guests, several information points, and a checkroom. In addition to the winning project, three special mentions will be granted to proposals that will also be exhibited in the fair. The jury consists of 3 representatives from the organizing institutions, architects, gallery directors, and personalities from the art world. The winning project will receive a purse of 4,000 euros-there will be no monetary compensations for the special mentions.
