The entrepreneur, educator (currently, President of Universidad Nacional Tres de Febrero, Untref), and art collector Aníbal Jozami was designated by the Ministers of Culture of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) as the new Director for the region's International Art Biennial. The event will be held at the Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK in its Spanish initials), in the city of Buenos Aires, in November of 2017. Mr. Jozami's candidacy for the position was launched last September by Argentina's Minister of Culture, Teresa Parodi, in Montevideo, Uruguay, during the third Unasur Ministers of Culture summit, with the participation of the block's twelve member countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The proposal to create the biennial and the designation of Aníbal Jozami as its General Director were unanimously approved. "At a time when the arts and the commercial system are intertwined, we want to make the biennial into a sustained project capable of returning art to its lost freshness," Jozami said. "This biennial—the first created not by a single city or country—is intended to generate a prestigious circuit for the projection of our artists into the world scene," added the President of Untref and now General Director of the Unasur Art Biennial.
