The first major exhibition in the United States focus on Vincent van Gogh¿ extraordinary drawings will open at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from October 18 to December 13. Vincent van Gogh: The Drawings, comprising 113 works selected from public and private collections worldwide, including an exceptional number of loans from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The exhibition will reveal the range and brilliance of the artist¿s draftsmanship. The other major retrospective is devoted to the work of the Italian Renaissance artist, Fra Angelico (1390/5-1455), the first comprehensive presentation of his work in half a century. More than 50 public institutions and d private collections in Europe and America will participate in the landmark exhibition, which commemorates the 550th anniversary of the artist¿s death. The exhibition Fra Angelico will feature nearly 80 drawings, paintings, and manuscript illuminations from throughout his career, supplemented by 45 additional works by his assistants and closest followers.
