Transbordar: Transgressões do Bordado na Arte
En Sesc Pinheiros, de la ciudad de São Paulo, se presenta del 26 de noviembre de 2020 al 8 de mayo de 2021, la exposición Transbordar: Transgressões do Bordado na Arte// Desbordante: Transgresiones del bordado en el arte. La exposición, curada por Ana Paula Cavalcanti Simioni, muestra obras de artistas que utilizan el bordado como un medio expresivo para desafiar las jerarquías estéticas y sociales.
El conjunto de obras está estructurado en dos módulos principales, "Artizando o Bordado" y "Transbordamentos", compuesto por obras diversas, que varían profundamente en cuanto a escala, dimensión y técnica; obras que desbordan las jerarquías, los límites a los que históricamente se ha restringido esta práctica. En cada una de ellas, el bordado muestra su poder para, al mismo tiempo, encantar y perturbar, seducir y concienciar. Los límites existentes entre arte y artesanía, entre artistas y artesanos, o entre el artista (en masculino singular) y “las amas de casa en prisión” (en plural, femenino), se difuminan deliberadamente.
La exposición presenta obras de más de treinta artistas de diferentes generaciones, con poéticas y dimensiones singulares, como Ana Miguel, Anna Bella Geiger, Arthur Bispo do Rosário, Beth Moysés, Edith Derdyk, Fabio Carvalho, Fernando Marques Penteado, Jucelia da Silva, Karen Dolorez, Leonilson, Letícia Parente, Lia Menna Barreto, Nazareth Pacheco, Pola Fernandez, Rodrigo Mogiz, Rosana Palazyan, Rosana Paulino, Rosângela Rennó, Sônia Gomes, Zuzu Angel, entre otros. La exposición también incluye obras de arpilleras chilenas.
Cada obra invita al público a mirar y repensar las jerarquías de géneros (artísticos y sociales) vigentes tanto en la práctica cotidiana como en el mundo de las artes. El bordado es, al mismo tiempo, encantador y transgresor, y muestra su capacidad de desbordar los límites estéticos y sociales, indicando un poder múltiple, no domesticable.

From November 26, 2020 to May 8, 2021 the exhibition Transbordar: Transgressões do Bordado na Arte /Overflowing: Embroidery transgressions in art is presented at Sesc Pinheiros, São Paulo, Brazil.
Curated by Ana Paula Cavalcanti Simioni, the exhibition displays works by women and men artists who use embroidery as an expressive means of challenging aesthetic and social hierarchies. The set of works in the exhibition, structured around two main modules - "Artizando o Bordado" and "Transbordamentos" -, is composed of diverse works, which vary profoundly in terms of scale, dimension and technique; works that overflow the hierarchies, the limits to which this practice has historically been confined. In each of them, embroidery shows its power to, at the same time, enchant and disturb, seduce and raise awareness. The existing boundaries between art and crafts; between artists and artisans, or between the artist (in the masculine singular) and “the housewives in prison” (in the plural, feminine) are deliberately blurred.
The exhibition features works by over 30 artists from different generations, with poetics and singular dimensions, such as Ana Miguel, Anna Bella Geiger, Arthur Bispo do Rosário, Beth Moysés, Edith Derdyk, Fabio Carvalho, Fernando Marques Penteado, Jucelia da Silva, Karen Dolorez , Leonilson, Letícia Parente, Lia Menna Barreto, Nazareth Pacheco, Pola Fernandez, Rodrigo Mogiz, Rosana Palazyan, Rosana Paulino, Rosângela Rennó, Sônia Gomes, Zuzu Angel, among others. The show also brings some works of Chilean arpilleras.
Each work invites the audience to look at, and rethink, the hierarchies of genres (artistic and social) that are in force both in daily practices and in the worlds of the arts. Embroidery is, at the same time, charming and transgressive, showing its capacity to overflow the aesthetic and social limits; indicating a multiple power, not domesticable.
