Third Edition of the Contemporary Art Week - Mar del Plata, Argentina

The Contemporary Art Week-Mar del Planta (SAC MdP) takes place March 1st through the 9th. In its third edition, it is a festival dedicated to contemporary art, and more precisely, to the visual, objectual, performative, and musical manifestations of art. SAC is a non-profit event, independently organized by a group of artists in the coastal city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. For this edition, SAC will present three large exhibits: Visual Arts, Art and Technology, and Video Art. All the activities mentioned will include the participation of local, national, and international artists. Just as with the earlier edition of the event, there will be a Series of Contemporary Music Concerts. It is a program that includes the participation of Jacques Demierre and Vincent Barras, from Switzerland, and Guillermo Bocanegra, from Colombia, among others. There will also be several workshops and conferences, including a workshop on stickers by the Federación de Stickboxing, workshops for designers and drawers, and a mapping workshop. The conferences will cover themes like: Media Laws, imparted by Juan Manuel Rapacioli, Vice President of Radiodifusoras Bonaerenses y del Interior de la República Argentina; Audiovisual Production, offered by the Asociación de Realizadores Audiovisuales de Mar del Plata; Droit de Suite-or right to follow, royalties granted to artists, or their heirs, to receive compensation every time one of their works of art is resold, taught by Doctor Guillermo Navarro; as well as the presentation of the book Siqueiros, Muralismo, Cine y Revolución (Siqueiros, Muralism, Cinema, and Revolution) by Ana Martínez-Quijano; among others. In the spirit of the event and out of a desire to contribute to the beauty of the city, some of the artists visiting the festival will leave their mark in several neighborhoods by creating of urban interventions (street art). Among these, Mariana Pacho-López and Marcelo Estrada (Universidad Torcuato Di Tella), and Daniela Ballerstero and Eliana Ochoa will present an exhibition/happening in the Bosque Peralta Ramos.
