Aimed at promoting the arts and particularly photography, the Education, Culture, and Sports Section of the Department of Development and Provincial Departments of the Regional Government of A Coruña, announce the call for participation in the Tenth "Luís Ksado" Photographic Creation Award.
The award is open to any person of age who is interested in the photographic field and who has not been awarded in any of the three earlier editions of the event. Likewise, works previously awarded in any other competition will not be accepted.
The jury will grant the winner a purse of 6,500.00 euros. The jury will also select a group of works that were not awarded and will include them in a traveling exhibition that will be presented in several places across A Coruña. Participants will receive a copy of the catalog created for the exhibition.
Each candidate must submit a minimum of six, and no more than 12, black and white photographs—centered on any subject—each measuring 30 × 40 cm (11.81 × 15.74 in). The images must be presented without any frame, glass, or support. Candidates must apply for any of the following categories: Photo-documentary, photo-journalism, or photographic report. Montages, collages, or any digitally manipulated images will not be accepted.
The reverse side of each photograph must include the following information: series title or headword, and the number each photograph has within the series. Candidates must also certify in writing that the images they submit are their intellectual property.
Candidates must send the works and all required information, in an envelope than includes the title or headword and the author's pseudonym, to: Diputación Provincial de A Coruña, Avda. Alférez Provisional 2, 15006 A Coruña; indicating on the envelope "X Premio de Creación Fotográfica "Luis Ksado." All works must be submitted before August 31, 2012.
This award was created to honor the memory of Castilian photographer Luis Ksado, who centered a good part of his work in the life in Galicia and its people.
