Smithsonian Director Resigns

Richard Koshalek, director of the Smithsonian's Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has announced his resignation from the post he held at the institution since 2009.

Koshalek's exit from the institution may be related to the disagreement between trustees regarding the future of the Bubble, a structure designed by DillerScofidio + Renfro and intended for installation in the center's facilities, at an approximate cost of 13 million dollars. It appears that some patrons of the museum prefer that the funds be spent on museum's daily needs.
