Six Decades of Cruz-Diez at the MAC

Through August 18, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá (MAC) will present Cruz-Diez: el color haciéndose (Cruz-Diez: Color on the Make), an exhibition of works by Carlos Cruz-Diez encompassing more than sixty years of artistic career. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Articruz, a workshop offering tools for the production and restoration of contemporary works of art, in order to share with other artists the great Franco-Venezuelan master's accumulated expertise. In 39 items, Cruz-Diez: el color haciéndose presents all the lines of work engaged by the artist over the course of his career. Conceived as an illustrative presentation of Cruz-Diez's mastery of chromatic phenomena, the exhibition is divided into five sections: •Early works: Cruz-Diez's production between the 1960s and 1990s, underscoring their origin and continuing relevance. •Recent works: works from the last decade, including some created in Panama. •Architecture and urban space: devoted to Cruz-Diez's projects in Panamanian public spaces. •Chromatic ambientations: a selection of installations prompting audience interaction and their immersion in color phenomena. •Didactic laboratory: a space created by the Cruz-Diez Art Foundation for the public of all ages to interact with light and color installations.
