Rodrigo Moura

Curator Rodrigo Moura has been recently appointed the new Director of Art and Cultural Programs for the Inhotim Institute. He will replace the Korean specialist Eungie Joo, who leaves the institute to devote herself to curating the 12th Sharjah Biennial, to be held in March 2015 in the United Arab Emirates.

Rodrigo Moura is a curator, editor, and art critic, Since 2004 he was Under-director of Arts and Cultural programs for the Inhotim Institute, based in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where he was instrumental for the acquisition of works by such artists as Artur Barrio, Ernesto Neto, Iran do Espírito Santo , Jorge Macchi, and Víctor Grippo, among others. During the development of the Inhotim colection, Moura also prioritized the acuqisition of works by younger artists, like Alexandre da Cunha, Marcellvs L, and Mateo López. He was responsible for the curatorship of Migeul Rio Branco's solo pavillion, which opened in 2010, and of site-specific projects by Jorge Macchi and Rivane Neuenschwander inaugurated in 2009.

Moura was assitant curator (2001-2003) and curator (2004-2006) of the Pampulha Art Museum, in Belo Horizonte, where he organized solo exhibitions by Damián Ortega, Ernesto Neto, Renata Lucas, José Bento, and Fernanda Gomes, among others. He also coordinated with Bolsa Pampulha, a scholarship program for young artists. He has participated as a curator in the ArtNexus EFG Prize, and is a contributor to ArtNexus Magazine and to a variety of newspapers, jpurnals, catalogs, and books.

Inhotim Institute is a complex of gardens and art pavilions located 60 kilometers outside Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and it hosts one or Brazil's mos important post-1960 international art collection.
