Polaroid Gigante 50 x 60

Through August 14th, the Spanish Embassy in Uruguay and the AECID (Agencia Española de la Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo) presented the exhibition Polaroid Gigante 50x60 at the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales in Montevideo Uruguay, thanks to the support of the Centro Andaluz de la Fotografía. The show, which is part of the CAF permanent collection, comprised works created by renowned Spanish artists between 1992 and 1994 using one of the world¿s five Giant Polaroid cameras. The artists were Chema Madoz, Juan Manuel Castro, Manuel Vilariño, Mónica Lleó, Roberto Chicharro, Manuel Falces, Ricardo Martín, Toni Catany, Ouka Leele, and Josep Vicent Monzó. The works on exhibit emerge from a context of instantaneousness, of sudden moments, capturing images with the immediacy of a Polaroid camera while reflecting on the concept, object, and subject being represented. These photographs are an attempt to make visible the experimental and investigative potential of photography in the current scene.
