Pilar Juncosa Grants

The Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation, following the will of its founders, promotes contemporary creative values by supporting young generations of artists in their education, and fostering their commitment to innovation and the search for new avenues for creativity. Through the Pilar Juncosa Grants, the Foundation promotes research on the life and work of Joan Miró, as well as his artistic and cultural context, especially in connection with its lesser-known aspects. The Grant is also intended to collaborate with the recognition of the artist's creative and life example, with the implementation of educational programs and projects that bring contemporary art closer to society. The Grants are offered in four modalities: 1. Pilar Juncosa and Sotheby's Biennial Award: This modality promotes artistic projects connected to Joan Miró's graphic-art workshops, located in Son Boter Manor, an 18th Century building adapted by Miró for use as art studios, now one of the institution's most characteristic features. 2. Pilar Juncosa Grant for an Arts Education Project: With a 4,000-Euro award (1,200 Euros for the artist and 2,800 Euros for the project's realization at the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca), the project must promote and foster the coming together of a specific sector of the public (teachers, children, youth, adults, senior citizens, people with disabilities, etc.) and contemporary art, and it must also be connected to the Foundation's documentary and artistic holdings with any other aspect of contemporary creativity. The project will be carried out at the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca. 3. Educational scholarships for courses in Joan Miro's Graphic Art Workshops: Two scholarships open to artists interested in printmaking and serial techniques. One scholarship for the winners of the Young Graphic Artists competition. 4. Art scholarships in other centers: One fellowship for residence, education, and participation in Casa Velázquez, in Madrid, with 2,000 Euros for travel expenses, food, etc. Casa Velázquez provides lodging at its Madrid residential facilities, the use of one of its studios, and participation in its program of activities. One fellowship for residence, education, and participation in the Slade School of Fine Arts, University College (London), with 3,000 Euros for travel, food and lodging, etc. The Slade School provides the use of a studio and access to workshops and other program activities.
