PHotoEspaña OjodePez announces the winner and the finalists of Human Values Award 2010

The winner of the award Giuseppe Moccia has received 6,000 euros and the opportunity to participate with a solo exhibition in PHotoEspaña 2011 with his series The Wednesday Kid. The finalists are Marco Di Lauro, Munem Wasif, Álvaro Laiz García, Alessandro Imbriaco, Jacob Aue Sobol, Carlos Luján, Jackie Dewe Mathews, Alexa Brunet and David Rengel. Giuseppe Moccia (Naples, Italy, 1978), in his seriesThe Wednesday Kid, depicts the life of Christopher, an 18-year-old young boy with Down Syndrome. This circumstance positions him at the crossroads of two very different realities. On the one hand, he is able to communicate effectively but on the other hand he doesn¿t have the skills to be independent. The jury of the award considers that ¿the series shows a big complicity and intense proximity with Christopher. The series talks about social inclusion; it doesn´t emphasize the negative and nor does it falsify the positive points of Christopher¿s reality.¿ The jury of this award was comprised of Alejandro Castellanos, director of Centro de la Imagen de México; Dewi Lewis, director of Dewi Lewis Publishing; Karol Hordziej, director of Photomonth of KraKow and Arianna Rinaldo, director of the magazine OjodePez. The third edition of this award has counted on the participation of more than 800 works by photographers from 60 countries.
