Nanne Dekking

Sotheby's auction house named Nanne Dekking, a visual arts teacher and archaeologist at the University of Amsterdam, as its new Vice President for the Americas region and Vice Chairman. Dekking will work out of New York City, in close collaboration with the firm's global sales team, to create strategic marketing initiatives, business development, and public relations, especially in New York, London, and Hong Kong.
Most recently, Dekking had a successful 11-year tenure as a member of the marketing team at Wildenstein & Co. Gallery. Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Curator of the Historical Collections Department at the House of Orange-Nassau, property of Her Majesty The Queen of the Netherlands, in The Hague, and earlier in his career he was Deputy Director of the Dutch National Ballet.
Sotheby's high command have said that this appointment raises great expectations for the company in terms of its incursion into new markets and the implementation of innovative global business expansion strategies, given Nanne Dekking's recognized experience in the art world and his vast network of international contacts.
