To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Cuban artist Mario Carreño, his descendants have established a Foundation under his name.
The artist, born on June 24th, 1913 in Havana, moved to Chile in 1958, and it was in this country that the Foundation, intended to highlight his life and works, was presented.
The Foundation was presented by the artist's daughters last June 25th at Chile's Museo de Bellas Artes. The event included presentations by Gaspar Galaz and Julio Jung, who spoke about their relationship with the artist.
Along the Foundation's plans is a large-scale exhibition of Carreño's works, slated for 2014, bringing together a variety of works now scattered around different collections and museums.
