Las Naves Scholarships for Artists and Creators

The objective of Las Naves Scholarships is to help artists and creators of any nationality and culture under the age of 35 to develop creativity and master skills in any artistic discipline. They can work in a positive, pleasant, collaborative, and respectful environment where they can be free to create and exchange ideas, techniques, initiatives, experiences, interests, and knowledge with other colleagues.

Scholarship holders must perform their creative activities autonomously—without the help of teachers or advisors—whether they develop their proposals individually or as part of collectives. This independence is likely to contribute to their cultural, professional, artistic, personal, and spiritual development.

Aware of the lack of spatial and economic resources available to many artists who find themselves struggling to develop their works, the scholarship program offers artists and creators the adequate environment and resources to materialize, develop, and complete their projects; to fulfill visions that could otherwise never materialize without these resources.

Las Naves scholarship program is directed to graduate students who have completed the 2010-2011 school year, and to students working on their final school project in the areas of photography, design, music production, and video creation.

Any of the activities associated with the completion of the project must conform to the space and resources offered by Las Naves. Therefore, it is not advisable to submit projects that require the use of, among many others, heavy and/or of excessively noisy equipment, fire, or toxic materials.

Candidates are free to choose any subject matter for their proposals. The deadline to submit all proposals is September 15.

Whether applying as an individual or as part of a collective, candidates must submit a folder with the following documents:

A completed application form with that includes the applicant's personal information and a photocopy of the Spanish government-issued ID card (DNI) or passport; Curriculum Vitae that indicates academic studies and other activities—i.e. exhibitions, awards, other scholarships, etc.—name of the project to be developed during the scholarship period; a complete description of the concept of the project; global budget; detailed list of materials and tools needed for the projects; as well as the total time needed to complete it; the project's development stages—provided that there are more than one—and a personal statement in which the candidate declares that the project has never before been published or exhibited, or that any scholarships have been awarded to such project.

Collectives must include the personal information of all of its members.

The paperwork must be sent in the standard A4 letter format to: Las Naves, Departamento de Becas. C/Juan Verdeguer, 24 46024 Valencia, Spain.

Two scholarships will be awarded, each with a purse of 3,000 euros.

Las Naves offers free working space for the scholarship holders. It will also put its personnel at the service of the artists and creators to help find solutions to their needs, to minimize expenses. Likewise, the institution is committed to promoting the artists' initiatives and works under development in its publications and in its homepage.

Once the scholarship periods end and the works have been completed, these will be shown at Las Naves exhibition space.
