Iván Navarro

Under the curatorship of Julia Herzberg, the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum presents the exhibition entitled Iván Navarro: Fluorescent Light Sculptures.

The exhibition consists of three floor sculptures, 14 wall sculptures, and three videos centered on multi-level practices presented throughout a decade. Chilean artist Iván Navarro creates sculptures out of fluorescent lights and mirrors. These light sculptures have evolved through a long exploration of lightweight and electrical materials, in combination with a profound interest in the development of a rich dialog between contemporary and modern artists, designers, architects, and musicians who have made important contributions to the history of art.

A section of the exhibition presents the series entitled The Nowhere Man. It consists of works exhibited for the first time in a US museum that show and transform iconic pictograms originally created during the 1972 Olympic Games. The videos illustrate this artist's conceptual and formal research.

Iván Navarro: Fluorescent Light Sculptures will remain open until January 27 of 2013.
