Colombian artist Iván Argote (Bogota, 1983), represented by ADN Galería, has won the 10th Illy SustainArt Award for his project titled "Is This Tomorrow." Awarded during ARCOmadrid 2017, this recognition granted by the illycaffè company consists of a purse of 15,000.00 euros. Formed by the director of the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), Ferrán Barenblit, independent curator, Patrick Charpenel, and art director of illycaffè, Carlo Bach, the jury recognized the 33-year-old Colombian artist "for his humorous deconstruction of the political, social and historic reality of the globalized world." By receiving this award, Iván Argote becomes part of a select group of Latin American artists born during or after 1970 who were born in coffee-producing countries. Illy SuatainArt began in 2007 as an initiative to expand the scope of action by illycaffè in the world of contemporary art. Conceived to explore new boundaries of creativity, illy SustainArt is a hub for exhibitions, collaborations, art events, as well as a point of reference for artists, curators and art professionals from around the world. From 2008 to 2015, illy SustainArt was also a digital platform, a communication tool and a window to the world of contemporary art in coffee-producing countries and the emerging markets.
