The Avilés Photographic Cultural Association (ACFA, its acronym in Spanish), in collaboration with the Most Excellent Municipal Government of Avilés, El Corte Inglés Center of Avilés, Cajastur, The Herrero Bank, and Careaga Graphics, issues a summons to the II ACFA Photographic Competition. Professional or amateur photographers are called to this competition, independent of their nationality or place of residence. Participants may present up to five photographs of free thematic, in color or in back and white, which have not been awarded a prize in another photographic event. The photographs may be presented only by their own authors. The Jury will be made up of professional photographers and members of the Avilés Photographic Cultural Association. The last day for reception of works will be December 8, 2009. When reception has finalized, a selection of works will be conducted. These works will then qualify for the second phase, when finalist and winning entries will be chosen. An exhibition will be carried out with the works received to compete in the event on the Internet in a gallery at www.fotoastur.com and this gallery will not reflect the authors' data. Once the results of the competition have been announced, the gallery will be modified, including data exclusively in reference to works receiving awards. After the winner has been chosen, a public exhibition will be inaugurated with the finalist and award-winning works in the Cultural Ambit Salón of El Corte Inglés of Avilés, which will remain open to the public between January 14 and 30, 2010.
