Grant Program of the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo

The call for participation in the Grant Program of the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City will remain open from September 1 through September 30. The program will offer up to 400,000.00 Mexican pesos of economic supports for artists, associations, art groups, and institutions committed to the production, research and dissemination of contemporary art.

The call is divided into five categories:

1. Production of Exhibitions:

It consists of complementary support for the production of high quality contemporary art exhibitions whose curatorial research and management processes are nearly fully realized in terms of the promotion, assembly, insurance, and transportation of the works. The supported projects must be supported by letters from the space in which they will be exhibited and from those involved in the organization of the project (curators and artists, among others).

2. Research

It targets theoretical-historical curatorial research projects in the process of completion that contribute to the analysis and discussion of contemporary art. The selected projects must approach fields intimately associated with, and committed to, the study of contemporary artistic practices, and must eventually yield specific results like a presentation, exhibition, or work. The economic incentive may be used to cover travel expenses, archival research, interviews, and supporting materials, among other things.

3. Artistic Research

A support granted to mid-career artists for the development of any phase of a professional project. This category will accept site-specific projects or institutions offering artist-in-residence programs that focus on the research and analysis of a particular context. The supported projects must be supported by letters of recommendation from professionals in the field, and acceptance/invitation letters from the receiving institution.

4. Publication

It supports the publication of texts, books, and magazines whose content and form contribute to the dissemination of knowledge or promote the study and understanding of contemporary art. The accepted projects must be ready for publication and have a dummy. Publications may be submitted in printed or digital forms.

5. Public and Educational Program

This category targets educational projects that promote and disseminate specialized information on contemporary art through collective dialogue and reflection. The accepted projects could be seminars, conferences, workshops, colloquia, symposia, or study groups, among other activities. The accepted projects must have the support of an institution, organization, or association that guarantees its realization.

Selection Criteria:

  1. 1. Applications will be evaluated by the Committee of the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo. The Committee's decision will be final and unappealable.
  2. 2. The selection will be based on the following criteria:

a) A connection to the mission and the interests fostered by the Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo.

b) Excellence, professionalism and originality.

c) Consistency and veracity of the information.
