Represented by its Ambassador in Colombia, Gianni Bardini, the government of Italy granted Gloria Zea, director of the Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota (MAMBO), the Order of the Star of Italy in the degree of Grand Officer. The honor was presented to Zea on March 25 of this year at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Bogota, during the inauguration of the exhibition entitled Vatican Museums by Italian photographer Massimo Listri. According to an official announcement by the Museum, the important award was given to Gloria Zea "in recognition of the exceptional achievements of her work throughout her professional trajectory as one of the most important cultural promoters in Colombia." The Order of the Star of Italy is an honorary distinction granted by the Republic of Italy. The order was originally founded in 1947 as the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity and was eventually reconstituted and given its current name through a law established on February 3, 2011. The Order of the Star recognizes individuals who have made great contributions to the promotion of friendly relations between Italy and other countries. It also recognizes individuals who endeavor to promote peace, human rights and human dignity.
