Fundación/Colección JUMEX Scholarships Program

The Fundación/Colección Jumex announces its call for participation in the 2013 Scholarships Program open to Mexican citizens or residents of Mexico.

The Fundación/Colección Jumex Scholarships Program aims at stimulating the research and production of contemporary art in Mexico through financial support offered to students seeking their Masters or Doctoral degrees, up to the amount of 200,000.00 Mexican pesos (approx. USD 15,720.00). These financial aids will finance studies in the visual arts, curatorships, art history and art theory or cultural management in the following categories. The scholarship covers the registration fee, tuition, as well as traveling and living expenses—which may include a yearly roundtrip airplane ticket in coach class, accommodations, preferably in a college dormitory or in a student boarding house; food, local public transportation, books and materials. All expenses are subjected to approval from the Fundación/Colección Jumex.

The scholarship holders who benefit from this aid to complete graduate studies will be able to apply for this support once every year for up to two years, while PhD students may apply once every year for up to three years. To renew this financial aid for graduate and PhD studies, the academic records of the candidates will be evaluated along with their expense reports from the previous year.

Candidates must submit the following paper work:

An essay that conveys the central aspects of the candidate's artistic production or his/her academic profile (no more than 3 pages long), as well as a proposal of the project to be developed during the graduate or postgraduate, including objectives, justification, and expected to achievements.

An explanatory letter that describes the importance of completing the academic program at the selected institution (no more than 1 page long).

The graduate or post-graduate academic program of the specialization course, offered by the chosen academic institution.

A letter of acceptance from the institution that the candidate wishes to attend.

A copy of the candidate's higher education academic records and a list of the subjects covered. A GPA of 8.5 or over is required.

A copy of the university degree certificate. It may still be in the process of being issued, but it will be required once the candidate has been selected.

A current C.V. with photograph (no more than 2 pages long).

A digital portfolio that includes documentation of the candidate's artistic or academic work.

Jpg images and Word texts. This folder must be submitted through a USB memory stick.

General budget proposal that breaks down the concepts, amounts and currency that corresponds to the country in which the program will be completed.

A detailed budget of the aid requested from the Fundación/Colección Jumex (Broken down from the general budget proposal).

Information about any other institutions from which the candidate is receiving or has requested financial support—that includes a description of the type and the amount of such support—with attached proof of scholarship.

Information about the forms of payment offered by the institution to cover the registration and tuition payments. The scholarship holder must submit a calendar of the required payments.

Two reference letters from university professors or relevant individuals in the art world who have had academic or professional contact with the applicant.

An updated copy of proof of residence in the language of the country in which the studies will be offered. It must be issued by an institution that is well-known and accepted by the university.
