A space for contemporary art in Bogota, Colombia, with an emphasis on the relationship between art and nature, FLORA has opened the following three calls: FLORA-Curator in Residence Fellowship, Legorburu-Artist in Residence Fellowship and the call to enter projects for its Cabinet Program. The deadline to enter applications is November 30, 2013.
FLORA-Curator in Residence Fellowship
The call is open to curators interested in obtaining a one year long curatorial experience at FLORA. There are no restrictions because of age, professional trajectory or nationality. The fellowship aims at emerging curators looking for a first educational experience inside an institution.
Accommodations are included for the 11 month duration of the fellowship—from January 15 to December 15, 2014—along with a one million five hundred thousand Colombian pesos (COP $1,500,000.00) stipend and a round trip ticket from the place of origin to Bogota and back when the fellowship concludes (applies to candidates living outside of Bogota or Colombia). There is also a production purse of up to two million Colombian pesos (COP $2,000,000.00) to cover the exhibition that the candidate will curate at the end of the residence.
The curator selected must submit a monthly report to FLORA that describes his/her activities along with any healthcare, ARP and lodging receipts from expenses incurred in during the period of the residence. Proficiency in Spanish is required.
Legorburu-Artist in Residence Fellowship
The fellowship offers access to a studio for the period of 11 months —from January 15 to December 15 of 2014—that includes the following: cleaning and security services, curatorial advice from the Artistic Director of FLORA, organizational support for the presentation of the final work including the modality of Open Studio—when the exhibition is presented directly in the working space—and a Virtual Invitation Card, namely, the online promotion of the Open Studio through FLORA's homepage and through social media.
The winning artist agrees to the following:
To use the studio at Casa FLORA for no more than a year as he/she complies with FLORA's manual of coexistence; to conceive a presentation with the results of the residence in the same study used to develop the project at the end of the stay; to offer a conference that is open to the public and that addresses the candidate's work; to offer an open workshop for the local community; to offer a public presentation at the end of the residence at FLORA's auditorium; and to write at least six entries for the FLORA blog during the year of the residence.
Call for the Cabinet Program (space to propose projects)
This call aims at the selection of projects for 2014. It is open to any person interested in offering personal or group proposals. There are no restrictions because of age, professional trajectory or nationality.
Nine projects will be selected from the totality of works submitted. The selected projects will be individually exhibited for a period of three weeks each. One week to mount and one week to dismantle the exhibition will be granted in between exhibitions. The first exhibition will open in January of 2014 and the last in December of 2014.
The call accepts paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, installations, videos, performances, archives and ephemeral works, among other mediums. All proposals must be executed keeping in mind the conditions and particularities of both FLORA and the Cabinet.
