In accordance with its foundational objectives of promoting and disseminating the fine arts, the Fundación María José Jove announces the Fifth "Fundación María José Jove" International Fine Arts Award. The call is open to artists of any nationality and place of residency who, by May 31 of 2012, are still under the age of 35. Participants may choose any subject and technique and may present no more than two original works in any of the following disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and new media. Paintings must measure at least 50 cm (19.7 in.) on its shortest side and no more than 250 cm (98.4 in.) on its longest side; sculptures must not be shorter than 40 cm, (15.7 in.) and longer than 250 cm (98.4 in.) on any of its sides; photographs may be color or black and white, must have a rigid support, and measure at least 60 cm (23.6 in.) long and no more than 200 cm (78.7 in.) long on any of its sides. Installations, works rendered in mix media, and any other kind of alternative visual manifestations¿with the exception of digital formats¿will be accepted. Artists who wish to participate in the call must submit their works online ahead of time by filling the application form available at the homepage of the Fundación María José Jove, and by attaching each image in the corresponding box. Only the works submitted digitally will be accepted. No original works, CDs or any other paperwork will be accepted via regular mail. Images must be sent in jpg format and at a high resolution (300 dpi), as that will become the reproduction employed in the catalog¿in the event the work is selected. Each image must be accompanied by a detailed information label. When applying online, each artist will receive a registration number that must be kept as reference of his/her participation. The Fifth "Fundación María José Jove" International Fine Arts Award offers a total purse of 27,000 euros-subject to current Spanish income tax legislation or IRPF¿that will be divided in the following manner: ¿12.000 euros toward the acquisition prize. The winning work will become part of the Colección de Arte Manuel Jove. ¿15.000 euros toward an acquisition fund established for the purchasing of works for the Fundación María José Jove and to be used according to the criteria set forth by the foundation. The jury will select 15 works from the entire group of works submitted. This selection will be part of an exhibition scheduled for the month of June organized by the Fundación María José Jove and presented at its venue in A Coruña. The opening of the exhibition will coincide with the announcement of the winning work. An accompanying catalog with the 15 works selected will also be published.
