Cubism Times

A cubist art exhibition that consists of more than 40 works by artists from around the globe has just been inaugurated at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). The exhibition is sponsored by the Spanish company Telefónica and its local partner China Unicom. Entitled Tiempos de Cubismo: Obras Maestras de la Colección Telefónica (Cubism Times: Masterworks from the Telefónica Collection), the exhibition proposes an alternative survey of the history of this art movement, through several artworks and techniques by artists like Emilio Pettoruti, Horacio Coppola, Martín Chambi, and Albert Gleizes, among others. According to the event's curator, Ernesto Carmona, the exhibition centers around the work of Juan Gris-eleven paintings by him are included-in order to showcase a new reading of the cubist movement and to understand this artistic current beyond Picasso and Braque, Cubism's best known representatives.
