The Colombian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Banff Centre, offers individual creators from Colombia the opportunity to travel to the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, to complete a creative project in any of the areas outlined by the call. The deadline to enter applications is April 30, 2012. The event will grant two incentives and the winning artist will be offered a five-week residency. The Banff Centre is an artistic, educational, and cultural institution, internationally recognized for advocating creative thinking, learning, development, and the exhibition of artistic projects. This center has been offering an education in the arts and culture for more than seventy years. A refuge for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences among artists from around the world, this institution promotes the development of innovative projects and learning about other cultures. www.banffcentre.ca The call is open to Colombian artists-natural persons-who develop their works in the areas established by the event. Candidates must review the general requirements for participation of the 2012 Incentives Call and submit three (3) identical copies of the project, individually spiral-binded, as well as one (1) digital copy (CD, DVD, or USB) that includes the following information: -An English or French language proficiency certificate issued by a legally-constituted institution that demonstrates at least an intermediate proficiency level. -A bilingual-English and Spanish-résumé that reflects the artistic work thus far developed and that supports the candidate's experience through certifications, articles or reviews in the press that feature a project, artwork and/or a recently presented exhibition. -An artistic portfolio that documents no more than ten (10) and no less than five (5) works. It must include sound, written, visual and/or audiovisual attachments. -A bilingual-English and Spanish-description of the project to be developed during the residency that includes the following information: name of the project, objectives, description, conceptual framework, targeted audience, connection between the project and the Canadian context, and an estimation of the budget to cover materials that does not exceed five hundred dollars (US $500). -A general timeline (that includes socialization). -A socialization plan that includes activities to communicate the results associated with the project, such as exhibitions, concerts, workshops and conferences, among other events; all of which must take place within a two month period following the artist¿s return to Colombia, and which must be part of any of the plans or programs offered by the Colombian Ministry of Culture, or any other entities with which agreements are reached to develop the residency. The place and timeline of the events will be coordinated with the Programa Nacional de Estímulos. The Ministry of Culture and the Banff Centre will jointly agree on the dates for the residency, a determination that will be subjected to the availability of studios and accommodations at the Banff Centre. The winner will receive: one roundtrip airplane ticket from his/her place of residence in Colombia to the Banff Centre in Canada; five hundred dollars (US $500) for materials; one hundred seventy dollars (US $170) to cover health insurance and single-room accommodations; Plan Flex Meal, a two full meals per day plan that offers the artist the option to select them according to his/her needs and schedule.
