ArtMadrid

Among other changes intended to evolve the fair's business model, ArtMadrid announced it is now opting for a biannual structure, held in February and November; the fair will also have a new exhibition site, and there is a change in its management organization.

ArtMadrid 2014 will be held during Madrid's Art Week, February 19th to 23rd, in parallel to ARCO and many other exhibitions in the city's gallery circuit. For its 9th edition, ArtMadrid will be presented in a new location: the Palacio de Cibeles' Crystal Gallery, near the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo del Prado, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza. Architect Alberto Martín de Lucio will be charged with articulating and shaping the 2,800-square meter exhibition space.

For its part, ArtMadrid Maestros will offer a new alternative, setting contemporary art apart from Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century examples, with the participation of antique dealers and gallerists presenting paintings, sculptures, graphic works, and photography from the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries up to 1970, including Impressionism and post-Impressionism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the historical Avant Garde. This new initiative will also host the "New Masterworks Collectors" program, with selected works priced under 3,000 Euros. Works by over 200 artists will be on offer, among them Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst, Joaquín Torres-García, André Masson, Alexander Calder, Le Corbusier, Karel Appel, Picasso, Dalí, Millares, Valdés, Barceló, Christo, Jaume Plensa, Juan Uslé, and José Manuel Ballester.

After Gema Lezcano stepped down as its Director, ArtMadrid announces a change in management. Alberto Cornejo, responsible for BAT Gallery since the mid 1980s and one of the fair's original founders, will assume the post of its President and General Director.
