15th Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial

The Mexican National Council for Culture and the Arts, jointly with the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Government of the State of Oaxaca, through the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Oaxaca and the Fundación Olga y Rufino Tamayo, A.C., extend an invitation to Mexican and international artists-who have lived in Mexico for the last five years-to submit their works in this painting competition created by Rufino Tamayo in 1982. This edition¿s awarding ceremony and exhibition of the Biennial will take place at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Oaxaca (MACO). The Biennial exhibition will also be presented in several states across Mexico. At the same time, the Museo Tamayo will organize a series of round tables centered on the themes of painting and the Biennial, as part of its Reasons to Debate program. Each artist may participate with no less than two but no more than three works created between January 2010 and June 2011. The works must not have been previously published, exhibited, or entered in any other competition. The deadline to submit all applications is August 26, 2011. Applications may be presented in person or by mail along with the rest of the paperwork and materials required to participate in the call. The INBA, FORT, and the Government of the State of Oaxaca will then award three of the finalist works with acquisition prizes, each for the amount of $150,000.00 Mexican pesos (12,900.00 USD approx.)
