14th Cuenca Biennial

The call for participation in the 14th edition of the Cuenca Biennial is now open to Ecuadorian artists. Candidates must submit their artistic portfolios before October 13, 2017. Titled "Living Structures. Rituals without Myths in Contemporary Art," the call will be based on the work by Lygia Clark titled Estruturas Vivas (Living Structures, 1969). The idea is to offer proposals that resignify this work by the Brazilian artist and incorporate a ritual meaning. This concept was proposed by US-based Venezuelan curator Jesús Fuenmayor who in collaboration with Venezuelan artists Yucef Merhi will form the curatorial core of the next edition of the Cuenca Biennial in November of 2018. Historically speaking, the biennial has become a place of encounter for contemporary art that generates spaces in which to dialogue, learn and establish connections between museums, artists, collectors, curators, gallery owners, and venues that are representative of the art produced in Cuenca. Artists interested in applying can email their digital portfolios, homepage links, brochures or representative samples of their works to: comunicación@bienaldecuenca.org under the subject: "Portafolio XIV Bienal" (14th Biennial Portfolio). Portfolios must include a complete CV, an abridged CV, and photographs of the works. Every project, series or proposal included in the paperwork must include a brief introduction that contextualizes it More information is available at: www.bienaldecuenca.org
