11th San Lorenzo del Escorial Engraving Prize

To promote the work by artists dedicated to graphic art and to boost their practice within a municipality with a history and cultural trajectory closely connected to engraving, the San Lorenzo del Escorial Provincial Government announces the 11th "San Lorenzo del Escorial" Engraving Prize. The call is open to any artist who resides within the national territory or in Saint-Quentin. Each participant may submit only one signed and numbered work created after 2009. Likewise, the artwork should not have been printed in an edition or have participated in another, previous competition. The following processes may be use to create the graphic art work: chalcographic engraving (line engraving, etching, aquatint, drypoint¿); woodcut; lithography, and serigraphy. No digital reproduction technique will be accepted. The size of the print must not be larger than 112 by 76 centimeters. It must be mounted on a hard support and frame. The width of the frame must not be greater than 3 centimeters and must be properly protected. The artist¿s complete name must be clearly written on the back of the work. The reception of the work ¿ signed and sealed ¿ will take place at the Casa de Cultura of San Lorenzo del Escorial, located on Calle Floridablanca, 3, 28200 San Lorenzo de El Escorial. The artist must acknowledge in writing that the work will be entered in the 11th "San Lorenzo del Escorial" Engraving Prize competition. Submission of the works will be accepted from May 24 to June 22, 2010. A First Prize of 1,500 Euros will be awarded, as well as a Second Prize in the amount of 700 Euros.
